About NPQs

NPQs are prestigious professional qualifications, already widely recognised by the sector. They are voluntary and are designed to support the professional development of teachers and school leaders at all levels, across primary and secondary schools.

If you are looking for a way to enhance your knowledge and future career in a specific avenue of teacher development, NPQs may be the perfect course for you.

To discuss joining the October 2024 cohort, please complete the form below or contact Leanne Storr at leanne.storr@nelt.co.uk

Funding for NPQs

While previously all NPQs were fully funded, this will no longer be the case. Moving forward, funding will be directed towards teachers and leaders working in the most challenging schools or educational settings, particularly those serving disadvantaged communities.

Here are the key changes:

  • For the October 2024 cohort, the DfE will fund up to 10,000 places in total.

  • State schools will be eligible for fully-funded places on specific NPQs, including NPQ in Headship, NPQ for SENCOs, NPQ in Leading Primary Maths, and the Early Headship Coaching Offer.

  • For all other NPQs, fully funded places will be available for schools with the highest 50% of pupil premium pupils, as well as early years and 16 to 19 educational settings identified as having high disadvantage.
