The NPQs for Leadership have been reformed and the new NPQ Senior Leadership will be available from September 2021, with our first delivery in November 2021 and a second cohort in February 2022. This NPQ will focus on contributing to, and sustaining, the school’s strategic direction.
This NPQ is for school leaders who are, or are aspiring to be, a senior leader with cross-school responsibilities. It will develop expertise in leading within a school and will give participants essential knowledge, skills and concepts that underpin successful leadership. It sets out what those leading in a school should know and be able to do within the specialist areas related to their role. It will also embed approaches that enable their school to keep improving.
Who is NPQ Senior Leadership for?
This NPQ is aimed at teachers who have influence over both the operational and strategic activity of the school and focus on working with colleagues (in particular, with middle leaders) to bring school culture to life by using evidence-led practice to promote excellent teaching.
The programme aims to empower participants to:
Contribute to establishing and sustaining a strategic direction and effective culture across the school
Support colleagues to design a carefully sequenced, broad and coherent curricula, provide high-quality feedback, and use reliable assessment
Contribute to a whole school approach to creating a positive, predictable and safe classroom environment, and assisting pupils who need more intensive support
Create effect systems, processes and policies which contribute to the safety of pupils and colleagues, and the proper management of resources
Programme delivery The programme is designed to fit around you and your commitments and offer a flexible work/life balance while you study. The NPQ Senior Leadership is an 18-month commitment with ongoing support from facilitators, mentors/coaches and the programme manager.
The programme is made up of a blend of in-person, online and self-study components totalling a maximum of four days plus self-study.
